CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
PRIVATES: by appointment only
Private
Sessions are one-on-one personal training lessons which incorporate all
Pilates apparatus, as well as, traditional
mat work. The initial private lesson will include an assessment of
strength, flexibility and any medical conditions; introduce the traditional
Pilates concept; and give detailed instruction of the basic exercises on the
equipment and/or mat. Privates are ideal for beginning to advanced clients who
want individual attention and detailed instruction. If you're new to
Pilates, we recommend you start with privates before moving on to duets or
classes so you can learn how to customize the exercises -- making them more
accessible to you or more challenging -- in order to get the most out of
your workout. All private
sessions are fifty-five minutes in length.
1/2 HOUR PRIVATES: by appointment only
1/2
hour sessions are available for a variety of reasons. They are best for
clients who would like extra help or
"pointers" for exercises done in mat or reformer classes. Advanced
clients may also use 1/2 hour sessions to learn new and more challenging
exercises to add to their own routine when working on the Pilates machines by
themselves. If your time is crunched, but you still want a Pilates
workout, then a 1/2 hour session could be the way to go!
DUETS: by appointment only
A
Duet (semi-private lesson) is exactly like a Private Session except for there
are two people to one instructor. Duets are great if you enjoy the
dynamics of working out with a partner or if your budget is a little tight.
To ensure your safety, it's our policy that you must have at least eight
private sessions before starting a duet class. (Exception: Both
clients are beginners and are starting their first Pilates series together.)
We recommend you find a partner; however, occasionally we have been able to
match clients. Duets are fifty-five minutes long and include exercises
on all apparatus and mat work.
OPEN STUDIO:
Open
Studio is time set aside for intermediate and advanced clientele to use the
Pilates equipment without an instructor. We invite anyone
correctly-trained in the Pilates Method of Exercise to use our facility and
enjoy the benefits of having a Pilates studio nearby. To ensure your
safety and proper use of the equipment, we do require at least one Private
Session with one of our instructors before you can sign up. You must pay
an OS fee to reserve a timeslot. Open Studio is on a first come, first
serve basis.
GROUP
CLASSES
We offer small, intensive class structure
limited to 8 participants per class. This allows our teachers to
provide you close supervision and personal correction in a friendly and safe
environment.
MAT WORK CLASS: schedule to be posted
The
Pilates Mat is a series of challenging exercises done in a specific order to
warm-up, stretch and tone your body. The mat movements are designed to
stabilize and strengthen the deep muscles of the abdomen and spine. To
add some "flavor" to the class, we sometimes incorporate the BOSU, exercise
balls, Styrofoam rollers, thera-bands, or the magic circle into the routine.
These classes are always challenging, yet fun!
ALLEGRO/REFORMER CLASS: coming soon!
Reformer
classes are designed cater to the intermediate and advanced Pilates students
who've previously had privates and are looking for a challenging reformer
workout in a fun environment. These classes are limited to 4-6 people
per class.
DANCE PILATES CLASS: The Pilates Method has greatly
enhanced the technique of professional dancers throughout the decades.
George Balanchine (legendary ballet master of New York City Ballet) was the
first to recognize the benefits of Pilates for dancers. We encourage
dancers to take advantage of this class which is specifically designed to use
Pilates exercises to improve dance technique. You must have your dance
teacher sign the required form in order to get the Dancer's Discount.
MATERNITY PILATES: coming soon!
A
wonderful conditioning exercise class for expecting women who wish to stay in
shape and have fun while doing it! Pilates is now recognized as one of
the best overall exercises for the pregnant. This class will help you
strengthen the abdominal muscles making it easier for you to recover from
childbirth and regain your pre-pregnancy waistline. Pilates helps you
relax and teaches you to breathe deeply and evenly, skills that will help you
during delivery. Pilates also improves your balance and coordination,
things you may sorely lack as you get bigger. Please check with your
physician before beginning any exercise routine! |
